What wildlife can I see?
Wildlife is an important part of the Myrtle Creek Farm experience.
Depending on the season and time of day, you may see pademelons, wallabies, snakes (active around December-March) and native birds around the property. Platypus may be seen in local waterways, while Tasmanian devils are present in the broader region. Both sightings are rare and never guaranteed.
We ask guests to observe wildlife quietly and from a respectful distance.
Can I swim in the creek?
The creeks are an important part of the natural landscape, but conditions change throughout the year depending on rainfall, season and water levels.
Guests should assess conditions carefully before entering any natural waterway. Children must be closely supervised around the creeks and other natural features.
Is Myrtle Creek Farm a heritage property?
Yes. The property includes an early-1900s heritage weatherboard cottage along with historic huts and outbuildings connected to the history of Collinsvale, including its former berry-picking and logging activities.
The cottage has been restored with the aim of preserving its heritage character while creating a comfortable contemporary stay.
What are the historic huts?
Several historic huts and outbuildings remain on the property.
We're continuing to restore these buildings and are exploring opportunities to potentially bring some of them into future accommodation offerings during 2026 and 2027.
These projects are still being considered and are not currently available to book.
Is Myrtle Creek Farm sustainable?
Sustainability is an ongoing part of how we're restoring and managing the property.
The farm uses solar power, creek water treated through filtration and UV disinfection, EV charging and considered energy-efficient design.
We've also reused reclaimed and locally sourced materials throughout the restoration and are gradually restoring native vegetation.
We're continuing to explore ways to reduce our impact, including the potential for small-scale hydroelectricity. This is currently only being investigated and has not been implemented.
