Fire place and dining room at Myrtle Cree Farm

The Cottage - Glen Rosa

The original weatherboard cottage dates from the early 1900s and was once uninsulated and in need of significant restoration.

Rather than replacing its character, the renovation was designed to retain the sense of the original building while introducing the comfort and efficiency needed for modern guests.

Natural materials, reclaimed timber and earthy tones sit alongside contemporary fixtures and fittings. The result is relaxed rather than formal: a country cottage with the comforts of a boutique accommodation stay.

Bedrooms

The cottage sleeps up to six guests across three bedrooms.

Master bedroom

The king bedroom looks towards the surrounding landscape, with views across the gardens and mountains.

Queen bedroom

A comfortable private bedroom suited to couples or additional guests.

Twin bedroom

Two single beds make this room particularly useful for children, friends or flexible group arrangements.

For families

A travel cot is available for families travelling with a baby. Please request this upon booking.

Everything you need for a comfortable stay

Myrtle Creek Farm has been designed to make slowing down easy, with the comforts of a well-equipped home alongside the character and atmosphere of a heritage cottage.

Kitchen & Dining

The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to settle in and cook at home, including a fridge, oven, cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, coffee facilities, cookware, crockery and glassware. Gather around the dining table for long breakfasts and shared meals, or take dinner outside when the weather is good.

The cottage also has dedicated outdoor dining, making it easy to make the most of the garden and surrounding landscape.

Bathrooms

The two bathrooms (shower, toilet and basin in each) have been designed with the same considered approach as the rest of the cottage, combining natural materials, contemporary fittings and practical comforts. Reclaimed timber from a nearby Collinsvale shed has been incorporated into the design, connecting the cottage to its local history.

Living & Everyday Comforts

Settle into the living room with a book, board game or record, or gather around the indoor fire on cooler evenings. The cottage has comfortable living and dining spaces, heating, Wi-Fi and a washing machine, so you can enjoy a longer stay without needing to compromise on the practicalities. Large windows frame views across the gardens, mountains and surrounding forest, bringing the landscape into the cottage.

Outside

The grounds are part of the experience at Myrtle Creek Farm. Step outside to explore landscaped gardens, native planting, two creeks and natural areas where you may spot pademelons, wallabies, native birds and, with luck, platypus or Tasmanian devils. Guests can enjoy three fire pit areas, outdoor dining, a BBQ, picnic spaces and the creek, as well as the private outdoor bath and sauna. There is also EV charging available on the property, supporting guests travelling by electric vehicle.

Other things to know

A few practical things

Myrtle Creek Farm is a rural property surrounded by bush and steep natural terrain.

The property is best suited to guests who enjoy being in nature and are comfortable with country roads, wildlife and an environment that is intentionally more natural than manicured.

There are creeks and steep sections of the property, so children need to be supervised.

The roads approaching the property are rural and winding. Take your time driving in, particularly when approaching the property and passing other vehicles.

We recommend stocking up on groceries before arrival, although local shops and larger supermarkets are within driving distance.
