Luxury Tasmanian farm stay for slow travel, nature and wellbeing

Myrtle Creek Farm is a private, architect-designed luxury farm stay in Collinsvale, Tasmania, approximately 25 minutes from Hobart CBD. Set across two hectares in the foothills of kunanyi/Mount Wellington, the property combines a restored early-1900s heritage cottage with landscaped gardens, native forest, flowing creeks and spaces designed for outdoor living and relaxation.

The Myrtle Creek Farm experience is centred on nature, heritage, architecture, wellness and slow travel. Guests can enjoy a private sauna and outdoor bath, explore the gardens and surrounding landscape, cook and dine together, gather around the indoor fireplace or simply slow down and enjoy the peaceful setting.

Wildlife - meet the locals

Myrtle Creek Farm is home to a variety of native wildlife, so keep your eyes open as you explore the property.

Pademelons and wallabies can often be spotted around the gardens and surrounding bushland, while native birds make the property their home throughout the year. The creeks and surrounding habitat also provide the possibility of spotting a platypus.

If you're particularly lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of a Tasmanian devil.

Wildlife sightings are, of course, never guaranteed — part of the fun is simply slowing down and seeing what appears.

Creeks and forest bathing

Two creeks run through Myrtle Creek Farm, bringing the sound of running water into the landscape and creating natural places to pause, explore and cool off.

On warmer days, take a dip or paddle in the creek when conditions are suitable. At other times, simply sit beside the water, listen to the forest and take in the surrounding landscape.

There's something restorative about being near water and amongst trees — and at Myrtle Creek Farm, you don't need to drive anywhere to find it. Some of the best days at Myrtle Creek Farm involve very little planning.

Grab the picnic rug, make something in the kitchen and find a quiet spot in the gardens. Enjoy breakfast outdoors, have lunch beside the creek or settle in for an afternoon surrounded by birdsong and mountain air.

When evening arrives, light the BBQ, sit around the outdoor dining table or gather around one of the three fire pit areas.

Slow travel near Hobart

Although Myrtle Creek Farm feels secluded, it is only around 25 minutes from Hobart CBD, making it an ideal base for exploring southern Tasmania.

Guests can combine time at the farm with visits to MONA, kunanyi/Mount Wellington, Hobart's galleries and restaurants, local markets, walking trails and the wider Derwent Valley.

Collinsvale and the surrounding mountain communities also offer opportunities to discover local producers, food, nature and small-scale Tasmanian experiences.

We encourage guests to balance exploring with time spent at the farm — leaving enough space in the itinerary to enjoy a long breakfast, take a walk through the gardens, relax in the sauna or outdoor bath and watch the landscape change.

Step outside and explore

The property itself offers space to wander through native gardens, forest and natural terrain, while nearby roads and walking tracks provide opportunities to explore further.

Myrtle Forest is approximately five minutes away by car and offers an easy way to experience more of the surrounding forest.
